ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – All three Rams competing in the heptathlon found themselves with personal record results that also wound up on the all-time list for the Colorado State track and field program by Saturday's conclusion at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
Sophomores Drew Thompson and Mauricio Galindo Vega finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while freshman Elijah Scott took sixth place in the two-day multi at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Thompson had three PRs in the final day and six all together en route to a 4892 score for ninth all-time at CSU. He was previously 15th with a score of 4702, which he obtained earlier this season at Wyoming.
His sophomore counterpart, Galindo Vega, finished with a score of 4810 and coincidentally will also be right behind Thompson in the CSU record book at 10th. This marked Galindo Vega's first heptathlon since the 2020 Mountain West indoor championships where he obtained the 12th-best mark in school history.
Scott, a true freshman, improved over 300 points from his debut multi back in December to finish with 4777 points – good for 13th all-time in the green and gold. In all, he had five PRs with three coming Saturday.
The weekend treated the Ram multis well as four of the five notched PRs that all landed on the school's top-20 all-time list. Lexie Keller's school record in the pentathlon Friday clearly highlighted the bunch.
Mariano Kis, the lone non-multi Ram in New Mexico, placed third in the shot put with a throw of 58'7.25''.

On Multis…
"The men competed really well and tallied 12 PRs within the multi. For a freshman, I'm really impressed with how fast Eli is learning and applying his skills. Drew had a down long jump but kept his composure like a veteran throughout the weekend. All his other events were any given day marks. Mauricio wasn't at his best, which he is frustrated with, but that just shows the standard he has for himself. He still executed well and will improve for conference. Overall, I'm pleased with how we competed this weekend and look forward to fine tuning for the Mountain West meet."
