FORT MYERS, Fla. – After guiding the No. 26 FGCU women's basketball team to a pair of league wins to open conference play, junior guard Kierstan Bell has been named the ASUN Player of the Week. It marks the 10th time in her career to earn the accolade which ties the league record shared with three others in the history of the ASUN.

"Kierstan is off to a great start in ASUN play," said head coach Karl Smesko. "Hopefully she can keep it going. We have a big week this week."

Bell also extended her FGCU record for winning the weekly award through her second year with the Green and Blue.

Last week, Bell led the Eagles to wins against North Florida (88-57) and at Jacksonville (83-64) as FGCU improved to 13-1 overall and 2-0 in the ASUN. Capping the week off with Sunday's win over the Dolphins extended FGCU's road winning streak to 23 straight games which leads the nation, more than double second-place Indiana which has 11, as well as its winning streak over conference foes to 24 games (third best behind UConn, 45, and Princeton, 28).

The junior led FGCU in scoring (22.0 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg) while adding five assists and six steals for the week. In the win over North Florida, she scored 27 points while hauling down 11 rebounds to go with an assist and four steals. She followed that with 17 points and three boards in the win at Jacksonville where she did not play in the fourth quarter. The double-double against North Florida marked her sixth of the season, while her 27 points were her seventh game with 25-or-more points in a contest.

Bell is the nation's third-leading scorer at 24.1 points per game this season and ranks second in total points with 338. Her six double-doubles leads the ASUN and ranks 28th nationally.

For her career, Bell is now averaging 18.5 points per game through 70 games total. In her 40 games with the Eagles, she is averaging 24.3 points and 9.8 rebounds. She has four 30-point games this season and nine with 20-or-more.

This was the 10th time in Bell's career that she has been named ASUN Player of the Week which stands as the most all-time in FGCU history.
