At the London premiere of the new James Bond film No Time to Die on Tuesday, there was no chance that Kate Middleton was going to be overshadowed by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. The royal arrived at Royal Albert Hall in a dazzling Jenny Packham gown with sheer panels and gold sequin detailing, while she accessorized with circular gold earrings by O’nitaa and nude heels by Aquaruzza.
Kate is a longtime fan of Packham, a British designer, and she is often spotted in the brand’s cocktail dresses for daytime events. According to People, the film’s star Daniel Craig was impressed by the outfit, telling her, “You look jolly lovely.”
Alongside Prince William and Prince Charles, who both opted for James Bond–esque tuxedos, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who wore a familiar shade of powder blue, Kate joined Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Léa Seydoux and Ana de Armas, and many more on the red carpet for the film, which was delayed for more than a year due to the pandemic. It was a rare joint engagement for the two royal couples, who haven’t all appeared at the same event since Prince Philip’s funeral in April.
A handful of healthcare workers and members of the armed forces were invited “extraordinary contribution to the nation's response to the COVID pandemic,” the palace said, and proceeds from the night would go to charities that represent past and present members of MI5, MI6, and the U.K. special forces.
The royal night-out marks William and Kate’s first film premiere since they hosted a more low-key socially distanced screening of Cruella in May. William is the president of BAFTA and often presents an award at their annual ceremony. Along with Prince Harry, the couple also walked the red carpet at a royal premiere of the last Bond film, Spectre, in October 2015.
