EKU Women's Golf Adds Kentucky Native, Two-Time All-American For 2021-22 Season

Shoemaker spent four seasons as a member of the golf team at the University of the Cumberlands.
RICHMOND, Ky. – Carlee Shoemaker, a Central City, Kentucky native and a two-time NAIA All-American will join the Eastern Kentucky University women's golf team for the 2021-22 season, head coach Mandy Moore announced today.

Shoemaker will have one year of eligibility remaining.

"Carlee had a great career at Cumberlands and brings a lot of tournament experience to EKU," Moore said.  "She is passionate about golf and getting better.  We know she will be a great fit for our program."

Shoemaker spent four seasons as a member of the golf team at the University of the Cumberlands.  She earned first team All-Mid-South Conference honors three times, was chosen as the Mid-South Conference Golfer of the Year in 2021, earned second team All-America recognition in 2019 and first team All-America selection in 2021.

As a freshman in 2017-18, Shoemaker was chosen first team all-conference after three top-10 performances.  In 2018-19, she finished the season ranked 25th in NAIA in the GolfStat rankings, was the individual medalist at the Mid-South Conference Championship and tied for 13th at the NAIA National Championship.  She concluded the season with a 76.6 stroke average, earned first team all-conference honors for the second time and was a second team NAIA All-American.

During the shortened 2019-20 season, Shoemaker ranked 20th in the GolfStat rankings, won two events and finished in the top-10 of all seven events.

This past season, Shoemaker was ranked seventh in the NAIA in the GolfStat rankings.  She won five tournaments, which was the second most in a single season in Cumberlands history.  She shot a 67 (-5) at the Heritage Hill Collegiate, the lowest single round in program history.  Shoemaker finished tied for 16th at the NAIA National Championship.  She broke the UC record for single season stroke average at 74.21.  She concluded her career tied for second in program history with eight career victories.

Shoemaker earned first team all-conference honors for the third time and was chosen as a first team All-American, just the fifth in UC history.
