TAMPA, Fla. — Navigating the holiday season is difficult enough, add the continuing pandemic, uncertain economic future and unanswered calls for social justice, it makes things even tougher.
A Tampa Bay area faith leader is giving hope in difficult times.
Randy Bezet is a Cajun Pastor from Baker, Louisiana. He came to Florida about 20 years ago because he felt called to do so, and created Bayside Community Church.
They now have churches in several Bay area counties.
Bezet wanted to help people grow in faith and said you do it with each other.
“When we go through problems, don't we often always feel so alone and, ‘Well, no one understands,’ and everybody's problems are unique, but we truly are all in this together, and if I'm feeling that way, I'm sure others are. So as a church, we've always just tried to just give people hope,” he said.
Bezet emphasized to model the behavior of Jesus.
He sat down with people suffering, those undesired by society and the downtrodden and listened to them. He offered love and support.
“I think all of this can be solved with us looking at the way Christ lived his life, being empathetic and having sympathy towards others. And if we do that and try to learn from other people and their experiences, I think we can change this place,” said Bezet.
