Kyler Murray and Tua Tagovailoa did not disappoint.
But the Cardinals were disappointed by the end of Sunday's game, a 34-31 loss to the Miami Dolphins at State Farm Stadium that was there to take.
Driving for the potential go-ahead score, Murray had an open Christian Kirk on a rollout play on third-and-1, but threw the ball at Kirk's feet for an incompletion. Kicker Zane Gonzalez then left a potential game-tying 49-yard field goal short with less than two minutes left, and the Cardinals (5-3) had a heartbreaking loss to the Dolphins (5-3).
Murray was spectacular, completing 21-of-26 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns, and rushing for 106 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Tagovailoa, in only his second NFL start, finished 20-of-28 passing for 248 yards and two touchdowns. The Cardinals struggled to make him uncomfortable, partly because of so many missing pieces -- not only were starting linebacker Devon Kennard and starting cornerbacks Byron Murphy and Dre Kirkpatrick out, but replacement Kevin Peterson left in the first half with a concussion.
